You too can do exploits like Elijah (2)
“Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are…” Ja 5:17.
The prophet Elijah did a lot of exploits for God in the Bible, and yet was subject to the same limitations, temptations and challenges like you and me.
What are some of the exploits of Elijah?
1. He locked up the heaven and stopped rain for three and a half years (1Ki 17:1)
2. He prayed again and it started raining on the land (1Ki 18:42-45)
3. He slew all the prophets of Baal and the groove (1Ki 18:40)
4. He raised a dead boy to life (1Ki 17:21-22)
5. He called fire from heaven to consume soldiers sent to arrest him (2Ki 1:9-12)
6. He was taken to heaven by a chariot of fire (2Ki 2:11).
How was Elijah subject to like passions as we are?
1. He needs water and food to survive just like you and me (1Ki 17:6, 17:10-11)
2. He was scared and ran away from death threat (1Ki 19:1-3)
3. He wanted to give up and die (1Ki 19:4)
4. He got discouraged (1Ki 19:10)
5. When provoked, he wasted 102 lives (2Ki 1:9-12).
As you can see, when it comes to passions, we are just like Elijah and Elijah was just like us too. He was not a superhuman; Elijah was flesh and blood like you and me. If Elijah can do the exploits listed above, you and me should be able to do likewise. All we need to do is to surrender ourselves spirit, soul and body to be used by God. God is looking for vessels to fill and use. Will you make yourself available to God like Elijah?
Prayer:
” O God my Father, I want to be the vessel you will use. I am your cup; fill me up today, O God. Let me be your mouth, hands and feet to my generation, in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen?
