The Faithful Messenger (2)
“Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go, tell the king what you have seen.” So the Cushite bowed himself to Joab and ran.” 2 Sam 18:21 NKJV
All Christians are messengers of God. God has reconciled us to Himself and also given us the ministry of reconciliation. God has made us His ambassadors and is pleading to the world through us the believers, 2 Cor 5:18-21. He called us His Epistles. “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:” 2 Cor 3:2 NKJV. We should ask ourselves:
– What message are we spreading?
– Who are we representing in the mission?
– How are we serving?
– How do we intend to end the mission?
– How shall the Master judge our service?
Jesus Christ was our our perfect example of faithfulness in service. He was faithful to God the Father and fulfilled His mission to die for the sin of mankind and bring salvation to all. Like Abraham’s servant, he carried out his assignment faithfully, and gave God all the glory. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Php 2:5-8 NKJV
Like the Cushite, we are to run with the message our Master has given us: “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.'” Mk 16:15 NKJV. This task is a matter of a great urgency. “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.” Isa 58:1 NIV. We are not to run like Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, who can run fast and yet had no message to deliver. We have a message and we will be faithful with it and run. “The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.” Hab 3:19.
Prayer
1. O God my Father, help me to deliver faithfully the message you gave me for my generation.
2. I will not run another man’s race; I will finish my mission successfully.
3. O God my Father, go before me as I run with the message you gave me, in the name of Jesus.
