Submission to the Will of God (2)

Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’ Hb 10:7 ESV

Submitting to the will of God most times will take you through difficult or unpleasant paths in life, but that’s still God’s way. It always ends in Joy or testimonies. Jesus Christ, just before facing the agony of the cross, prayed, “…O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will. ”Mt 26:13 NKJV. He finally submitted to the will of God the Father to bring salvation to you, me and the whole mankind.

Mary Submitted to the will of God
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word…” Lk 1:38 ESV. When the angel appeared to Mary, she  submitted and accepted the will of God for her life. She could have said no, and that will be the end of it; God would have to look for another virgin. She knew it was not going to be easy as a betrothed virgin carrying a pregnancy. What will Joseph, families and friends say? How can a young woman who has never have sex bears the burden of pregnancy and the pains of childbirth? Mary knew the sorrow and challenges, and yet she totally submitted to the will of God.

Many years later, just as the mother submitted to the will of God, Jesus Christ also submitted, and he said, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” Jn 6:38 NKJV. The Bible said of Jesus Christ, “…He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Php 2:8 NKJV. Just as Abraham, Mary, Jesus Christ and other saints submitted to the will of God, God is asking us today to seek His will for our lives and also submit to it.

Prayer
O God my Father, I  submit to your will for my life; I want to live my life to please you. I receive the grace to do so from today, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
