Make your Life Count (1)
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Ge 5:1
The Book of Genesis chapter 5 lists the generations of Adam up to the sons of Noah. All these people lived and died, including the longest living man on earth, Methuselah, who lived for 969 years (Ge 5:27). This tells us that, as pilgrims, our sojourn here on earth, no matter how long or short, exciting or boring, is for a limited time. “For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,” 1 Pt 1:24 NIV. The important thing is, while on this side of eternity, to make our lives count for God.
Is God in the Narration of your Life?
The Bible recorded for Adam, “After he begot Seth… So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.” Ge 5:4-5 NKJV. All others, including Methuselah, have similar narrations, ‘he begot… and died.’ When it came to Enoch, the narration changed. “After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters…
And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” Ge 5:22-24 NKJV.
You are not just existing to work, and bear sons and daughters, and then die. You are here to fulfill the purpose of God; to walk with God like Enoch. If you walk with God while you are on this earth, you will live with Him in eternity. Just as God told Abraham to walk with Him and be blameless (Ge 17:1), God is equally asking the same from everyone of us today. Make everyday of your life count for God. Jesus Christ, His Holy Son, is the only way to God the Father, Jn 14;6; surrender your life to him today.
Prayer
O God my Father, help me to make my life count for you. I want to live the rest of my life for you. Help to do this from today, O God, in Jesus name. Amen.
