Lack of Knowledge Destroys
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Hos 4:6 NKJV
Ignorantia juris non excusat is a Latin for “ignorance of the law excuses not”. The whole universe and the unseen world are governed by laws or principles, whether you are aware of it or not, whether you acknowledge it or not. “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Isa 5:13. God does not want His people to lack knowledge and understanding. “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.” Pro 4:5
These people got into problems due to their lack of knowledge and understanding:
1. Cain: Cain’s sacrifice was rejected by God because lacked knowledge of the type of sacrifice that God demanded. Even when God gave Cain a second chance, he still refused to make amend, choosing the way of murder and rebellion instead. Gen 4:1-8
2. Ham: Ham got into problem with Noah, his father, because he lacked knowledge and understanding of how to respect a parent. Gen 9:20-27
3. Matters of Gibeonites: For lack of understanding, Israel entered into a covenant with the Gibeonites. This agreement multiplied the battle against them.
4. Nadab and Abihu: These two sons of Aaron, even though they are priests like their father, lack knowledge of burning incense before God. They offered strange/unauthorized fire before the Lord, and the fire of God consumed them.
5. King Saul: King Saul lacked the knowledge and understanding of Yahweh the True God. When the Philistines came against him in battle, he consulted with a necromancer. He ended up losing his life and throne. 1Sam 28;4-19.
6. Uzzah: Uzzah was serving God in the energy of the flesh; he lacked knowledge and understanding. He touched the ark of covenant which is forbidden for him to touch, and he died because of ignorance, even though he was zealous. 2Sam 6:6-7, Exo 25:12,12-15, 1Chr 15:15.
Nowadays, instead of the teachers of the word of God, we have comedians and entertainers in the pulpit. Ignorance of the word of God is no excuse, as the Bible is available for everyone to read for themselves. May God give us the grace to hunger and thirst for his word.
Prayer
O God my Father, ‘man shall not live by bread alone’, according to your word. Awaken a fresh hunger and thirst for your word inside me. As from today, I embrace knowledge and understanding, and reject ignorance and death, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
