God’s Call (3)
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isa. 6:8 NKJV
Isaiah
Isaiah was already doing the work of God before he received a specific call from God in chapter 6. From chapters 1-5, he was already preaching to Israel and Judah to repent from idolatry. In chapter 6, Isaiah saw a vision of God where he was commissioned. Note also that the young Samuel was already serving God in the temple before God called him for a specific assignment. They both knew God and have been worshipping Him. The first call of God in your life is salvation. Even if you think you have already known what God wants you to do, you must first come to Jesus Christ, His Only Son, who is the only way to the Father, Joh 14:6.
Paul
“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,
to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,” Gal 1:15-16 NKJV. Before the call of God, Paul was serving God in the wrong way, persecuting the church of God. He was full of zeal, but zeal without knowledge, which is dangerous. Then God flashed His light in his life and Jesus Christ appeared to Paul, Acts 9:1-22. Paul became saved and was able to fulfill the call of God in his life.
Many are in the church today warming the seat every Sunday. If you asked them, they will tell you that they are waiting for God to use them. But when there is a call for evangelism or intercession for lost souls, they will not be there. They pray for the Holy Ghost power to fall on them, but what are they going to do with the power? To cook in their kitchen or carry files in their office? If you belong to this category of Christians, then you need to repent now, and genuinely invite Jesus Christ into your life. You cannot be saved and not have passion for the lost souls.
Prayer
O God my Father, I am sorry for sitting idle in your church and not heeding the call of soul winning. I re-dedicate my life to you today; help me to live my life to serve you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
