Find your rest
Find your rest
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mt 11:28
“Come unto me.” Our Saviour has given the invitation to all that labour and are heavy-laden, to come unto him. When you think of this, everyone on earth is affected. People are burdening themselves looking for wealth and positions, people are traversing the earth for pleasure, people pursuing knowledge endlessly to their own sorrows.
“I will give you rest.” Christ promised rest for everybody. Christ gives what no one else can give: rest from the burden of sin, from the weariness of profitless labour. This does not mean that you will have no more work when you come to Christ. The rest and refreshment that Christ will give you, will make you fit for any work God has in store for you. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do..” Ep 2:10 NIV.
“God has told his people, “Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.” But they would not listen.” Is 28:12. NLT. Sadly, many people did not want the rest of Christ; they seek rest from drugs and alcohol, they seek rest from materialism and worldly amusements. These are carnal and ephemeral rest. It is a rest that dies with the flesh.
“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” Je 31:25 NIV. The rest that Christ promised will last you from this earth to eternity. He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mt 11:28. “O God we pray, give our weary soul your rest, in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
