Escape from Confusion (1)

Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. Gen 11:7 NKJV

When confusion sets in, disappointment follows in it’s trail; life’s purpose, pursuit and mission are abandoned. “For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” 1 Cor 14:33 NKJV. Men are the architects of their own confusion. Confusion comes to us when we change the purpose of anything, and we still expect to deliver normal results in the midst of the confusion. Satan tempts people to make choices that eventually lead to confusion. We must resist him at all costs.

Confusion at Babel
The consequence of pride and rebellion is confusion as a punishment from God. This was exactly the lot of our ancestors when they were trying to build the Tower of Babel. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” Gen 11:4 NKJV. This was clearly against the instructions of God to man. “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…” Gen 1:28. Man wants to do that which is opposite to God’s commandments; that is the beginning of confusion.

A tower whose top is in the heavens… Why were they trying to build a tower to reach heaven?
1. Pride and rebellion against God 
2. Since God no longer come down and fellowship with man like before due to sin, they want to create an unauthorized access to heaven by themselves. This is religion.

Religion is man’s way of trying to reach God. Jesus Christ is God’s authorized way for man to reach God. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jn 14:6 NKJV. If you are still trying to serve or worship God without Jesus Christ in it, you are in the midst of confusion, and the best thing to do now is to surrender your life totally to Jesus.

Prayer
O God my Father, save me from confusion. I repent today of every sin of pride and rebellion. Lord Jesus Christ, I surrender my life to you; enter my heart now. Amen.
