Created for His pleasure

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rv 4:11

In the Beginning
‘In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Ge 1:1. When God willed it, the universe had no existence; again, when he willed it, the universe came into being. They are, and were created. “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good…” Ge 1:31

Adam displayed the first of God’s Glory. “So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Ge 1:27. After God formed all animals and birds, He brought them to Adam, and Adam named them all. Ge 2:19. Adam brought pleasure to God then. “[Even] every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” Is 43:7

After the Fall
Later Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Ge 2:17, 3:1-8. Every thought of man became evil. Ge 6:5-6. instead of man to tend towards the good, man tends towards the evil. Je 17:9. God is no longer having pleasure in man again because man continued to sin in both inward and outward ways. Pr 6:16-19. Man has pleasure in sin and worldly things.

If the heavens and firmaments display the beauty of God, Ps 19:2, why not we humans?

How can God have pleasure in us again?
1. We must truly repent and surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Jn 3:16-18, Ro 10:9-10
2. We must bear fruit. Jn 15:1-8,16, Ga 5:22-23
3. Holiness. We must please God with our lives. 1Pe 1:15,16. Our lives must be a sweet savour to God.
4. We must not draw back. Hb 10:38-39. God is not pleased with those who drew back.

Prayer
O God my Father, let my life gives pleasure to your Holy name.
