Created for His Pleasure (3)
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Cor. 5:15
The purpose for our lives is to give God pleasure; anything outside that is a misspent or wasted life. Sadly, nowadays many live for their own selfish pleasure. God is not in the agenda of their lives. “For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.” Php 2:21 NIV. God is displeased with a lot of people because they are selfish. A lot of believers are stagnant in life because their lives are not giving pleasure to God, who they only profess to love only with their mouths, but not with their lifestyles.
Selfish Pleasures
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Tim. 3:1-5 NKJV. The list is endless, but this just about summarised them all.
You Are Living a Life of Selfish Pleasure:
1. When you go on a marathon fasting for earthly things, but never you’ve never spent an hour to pray for lost souls.
2. When you make ostentatious giving in the church or outside the church.
3. When you start doing things outside the will of God.
4. When you start competing with your brethren or fellow ministers in the church.
5. When you do eyes-service at work, or in the church to get business contracts.
6. When you use money to influence or buy positions for yourself in the church.
When someone walks with you, and you no longer do his pleasure, he will withdraw from you. In the same way, when someone no longer do the pleasure of God, God will be far from the person. “When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Ps 27:8 NKJV. This verse is how we should respond to doing the pleasure of God, our Father.
Prayer Points
1. Forgive me, O God, for all my misspent years.
2. Heal me and deliver me from all carnality, O God.
3. The grace to live for your pleasure, give it to me, O God.
